For 20 years and counting, Sean has been focused on live performance. At the age of 19 he twice toured Ireland as keyboard player with Natty Wailer and the Reggae Blues Vibe. He went on to study in the jazz jam circuit of the Hudson Valley under the tutelage of Malcolm Cecil, Vinnie Martucci, John Esposito, Marvin Bugaloo Smith and many others. Sean graduated with a BA degree in Jazz studies and piano performance from SUNY New Paltz. His musical expertise as an arranger and performer span traditional Jazz to Modern Jazz, Funk, and New Orleans Brass Band style. He is the founding organist for the funk group “The Forefathers,” a 1970’s style organ, Funk/Bugaloo band. The group has played countless venues and private celebrations including Hudson Valley’s Club Helsinki, The Falcon, Colony, and the Chronogram’s 25th Anniversary event. Sean has played weekly restaurant/club gigs for the past 13 years at venues throughout the Hudson valley with different duos, trios and quartets consisting of the finest musicians. He has also repeatedly appeared as a guest artist with Bard’s Orchestra Now. He also plays accordion for the T McCann Band, a traditional Hudson Valley Irish band. Sean is passionate about finding great music and sharing it with others. He teaches brass and piano locally as well as directs youth bands at The Red Hook Community Music Space. Sean lives in Rhinebeck NY with his wife, Mary and his two children Silvia and Sean Michael.
